ACHIEVEMENTS
Founding member of AIESEC Canada 1958
Mr. Perinbam was a member of
AIESEC Canada’s Board of Advisors for many years and a mentor to many past AIESEC national team
members. He provides AIESEC in Canada with letters of support and references to prospective
donors
Mr. Perinbam has served as CEO
of the World University Service of Canada (WUSC)
The first Secretary General of
the Canadian Commission for UNESCO and Commission for UNESCO
Mr. Perinbam represented the
World Bank at the United Nations and its specialized agencies in New York and Europe
In 1997, Mr. Perinbam received
Canada’s highest honour for lifetime achievement, the Order of Canada. His experience in human
resource development, international education, management and institution-building has enabled him
to play a strategic role in shaping Canada’s policies and programs in this respect
He has acted as adviser to
several organizations including the United Nations, UNESCO, the Commonwealth Secretariat, and the
National Academy of Sciences (Washington, D.C.).
The founding Executive Director
of the Canadian University Service Overseas (CUSO)
During his 22 years at the
Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), for 18 of which he was Vice-President, he
launched more than seven major initiatives including CIDA’s Non-Governmental Organizations,
Industrial Cooperation, Global Education, Management for Change, Africa 2000, Youth Initiatives and
Centers of Excellence Programs
Lewis Perinbam joined the
Commonwealth of Learning (COL) in 1991 as Senior Adviser to the President, with primary
responsibility for COL’s relations with governments, non-governmental organizations (NGOs),
educational institutions and the private sector
He has written numerous articles
and papers and is the authors of North and South: Towards a New Interdependence of Nations,
published by Dalhousie University (1983). He has received doctorates in law (Honoris Causa) from
the University of Calgary, York University (Toronto), and l’Université du Québec
The recipient of the Sir Edmund
Hilary Humanitarian Award for 2001.
Just appointed by Prime Minister
Jean Chrétien to the Board of Governors of the Canadian Centre for Management Development (2002)
for a three-year term
