Going to university to study Industrial Engineering was one decision that Ahmet took to further his education. Soon after, he took another decision that would impact him for the rest of his life: volunteer for a global organization.
Ahmet volunteered for AIESEC, an organization run by ambitious young people that are handed the tools to change themselves and the world.
Ahmet’s proactive character and eagerness to learn led him to become the main responsible for information systems of the AIESEC chapter in Istanbul, comprised of over 100 members. One of his fondest memories is of when he was part of a team that successfully organized the logistics for a week-long conference and gave 400 members an unforgettable experience.
While students have ever more options to travel and study abroad, Ahmet found an opportunity with AIESEC to not only gain valuable work experience in Mexico for a year but be the National Director of Information Systems, a position that directly relates to his desired future career.
Ahmet was given the freedom to draw out and challenge his creativity and ideas in an encouraging environment and it was here that he realized many self-motivated projects. He developed an online Customer Relationship Management system, meanwhile improving his programming skills and providing a tool for AIESEC members in Mexico to coordinate their external relations more efficiently.
After a year in Mexico working at the national level, he felt ready to take on the next challenge and was accepted for a position on the global AIESEC International team, where he manages the largest IT project in the history of the organization and supports its implementation in more than 100 countries and territories.
